Elaboration of original synthesis procedures, including template condensation, on the matrix of transition metals (3d and 4d) and "s" (Ca, Sr, Ba), which will allow obtaining coordination compounds with ”open-chain” and "crown" ligands (amines, aldehydes, ketones, oximes, azomethines, dicarbonylcyclopyridines, carboxylic acids, etc.).
Development of original methods and techniques of synthesis of new complex compounds of "s" and "d" metals with different nuclearity and structure based on polyfunctional and polydentate coordination agents, which contain nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur as electron donor atoms.
Elucidation of the composition, geometric and electronic structure of the obtained compounds using chemical and physico-chemical research methods.
Evaluation of the biological activity of obtained compounds as stimulants/inhibitors in the cultivation of crop plants; in biosynthesis processes of micromycetes and microalgae, as well as inhibiting the development of non-pathogenic bacteria; as antioxidants and stimulating the processes of antioxidant components formation in the nutrient growing environment of microorganisms.
Highlighting the adsorbent, photoluminescent, magnetic properties of the coordination agents and the obtained complexes.
The use of obtained coordinating compounds in order to identify new innovative solutions for directing biosynthetic activity of microorganisms involved in biotechnological processes (mycelial fungi, microalgae) with applicability in the production of multifunctional bioactive principles (enzymes, polysaccharides) knowledge in biotechnologies and bionanotechnologies in the pilot phase.
The proposed researches envision the achievement of new sustainable technological processes and obtaining of bioproducts with advanced features.
An important objective of the project is to attract students from higher education (cycle I, II and III) in the research process and to train young specialists in the field of chemistry and biology by completing the licence's, master's and PhD theses.
The integration of research with education will allow the development of interdisciplinary research competences with the identification of the practical use areas of the new multifunctional materials and of the efficient technologies.
The realization of this project will have a profound impact on the awareness of the mechanisms that govern the biosynthesis processes of micromycetes and microalgae, the production of bioactive principles by microorganisms and the catalysis of these processes by coordinating compounds. This will allow specialists to design and assemble active catalytic systems with useful and predictable properties. At the same time, the coordinating compounds, which will exhibit inhibitory properties of the biochemical activity of the microscopic fungi (micromycetes), will be proposed for further testing as antifungal preparations.
Synthesis procedures were developed and organic compounds (proligands) and complexes of 3d, 4d, and "s" metals, as well as some chemical compositions were obtained. Using contemporary physical research methods: automated elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy (400-4000 cm-1), UV-vis, NMR, thermogravimetry, X-ray diffraction method on single crystals and all, the chemical composition, physico-chemical, spectral and structural properties were established. The useful properties of the proligands and newly obtained coordinating compounds were investigated as well: biological activity (antimicrobial, biocatalysts of enzymogenesis processes in the cultivation of micro- and macromycetes, antioxidant for the protection of cultivated plants in drought and strong solar radiation), photoluminescent , adsorptive of gases with low molecular mass. Among the 3d, 4d type metals were used: V, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn and Cd, and among the "s" type metals: Ca, Sr and Ba. The synthesis of a series of polymeric coordination compounds of different dimensionality (1D - 3D) and nuclearity with polyfunctional ligands was carried out. Quanto-chemical studies of the synthesis of new organic ligands with bridging functions in the assembly of coordination polymers were carried out. Entrainment of the coordinating compounds of Co, Fe, Ca, Sr and Ba in the cultivation of the representative strains of mycelial fungi increased the activity of exocellular hydrolases by 35.6-89.8%, while reducing the cultivation cycle of the producers by 24 hours. The synthesis of homo- and heterometallic compounds of metals V, Mn, Fe, Co, Zn and Cd with polydentate ligands was carried out: Schiff bases, carboxylic acid esters, dioximes and others with different nuclearity (mono-, di-, tri- and polynuclear), varied structure (mono-, di- and polymeric (1D, 2D and 3D polymers)) and homo- and heterometallic Zn-Cd. The synthesis of a series of coordination compounds of Mn, Co, Cu, Zn and Cd with ligands containing carboxylic, pyridinic, oxime and amine functional groups were carried out. The optimal parameters were determined for the application of coordination compounds with polydentate ligands of Ba, Sr, Ca-Co(II), as well as Fe(III)) in the cultivation technology of representative strains of mycelial fungi from the genera Fusarium, Rhizopus, Aspergillus, Lentinus producing valuable bioactive principles (exocellular hydrolases – proteases, lipases, amylases, biomass increase). The obtained results were used in the development of 8 improved procedures for the cultivation of mycelial fungi from the genera Fusarium, Rhizopus, Aspergillus, Lentinus. In vegetation and production experiments, the effect of pre-treating seeds for sowing and the leaf apparatus of cultivar P 458 maize plants with thiourea, Galmet and Thiogalmet on the activity of antioxidant enzymes, photosynthesis, growth and plant productivity under conditions of optimal humidity and drought was studied. Pre-treatment of plants with thiourea, Galmet and especially with Thiogalmet increases the activity of superoxide dismutase, catalase, ascorbate peroxidase, glutathione reductase and glutathione peroxidase. The beneficial physiological effect of Thiogalmet is also confirmed by the higher level of the plant assimilation and growth process. Obtained information from investigations carried out under production conditions demonstrates the possibility of mitigating the adverse effects of drought on the physiological response and production through the application of antioxidants. All 3 chemical compositions Thiouree, Galmet and Thiogalmet show antioxidant properties, but the most pronounced showed the Thiogalmet. which can be recommended to the responsible authorities for maize cultivation technologies.
